The Community Free Clinic is a successful health care organization that provides healthcare and medications at no cost to uninsured adults in our community thanks to the contributions we receive from our many partners. Clinic and pharmacy services are supported through a collaborative partnership with volunteers including physicians, pharmacists, dentists, medical support and administrative staff; Community Care Plan of Southern Piedmont; Atrium Health NorthEast; Cabarrus Health Alliance; Cabarrus Rowan Community Health Centers; MedAssist of North Carolina; and other community agencies.
In 2001 the Community Free Clinic became part of the Community Care of Southern Piedmont’s HealthNet, known to our patients and providers as the Community Care Plan, “CCP” or the “pink card” program. Many of the primary care practices in our community, in addition to the Free Clinic provide free care to the CCP patients. When specialty care is needed the patients are referred to participating specialists and are seen free of charge in their practices. Atrium Health Northeast provides inpatient care, diagnostic services, and lab services. LabCorp also provides no cost lab testing and analysis for Free Clinic patients. Gateway Surgery Center provides the use of their facility and providers associated with Gateway Surgery Center also provide their services at no charge. In addition, there are countless hours provided by administrative volunteers, fundraising volunteers, and a volunteer Board of Directors. Local restaurants and vendors provide meals for volunteers during Night Clinics. We also receive support from local individuals, churches, civic groups, corporations and businesses that recognize the need for the services provided by the Free Clinic.
The Clinic owes it success to our community’s collaboration and partnerships. We could not provide these much needed services to the community if we did not have these volunteers, partners, and supporters who are the backbone of what we do. Many thanks to all who engage and participate in “Keeping People Healthy”!
