Marie graduated from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Sociology/Emphasis Social Work. She also completed a two year certificate program, Management Academy of Public Health, at University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill. She has 27 years’ experience in the provision and management of health and human services to general and target populations. She has been effective and successful in creating, building, and sustaining healthcare networks in four different locations in the Southeast. Since June 2012, she has been the Executive Director of Community Free Clinic. She is responsible for all fiscal, programmatic, funding, and staffing operations of the Community Free Clinic. She leads a staff of six health professionals and seven administrative support staff. She also provides oversight for over 200 volunteers who log over 4,000 hours of service each year, including physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other supportive and administrative volunteers. She is an active member of the Rotary Club of Cabarrus County and the Business and Professional Women Cabarrus County Chapter.
