Bi-lingual patient scheduler/front office staff
Rebecca was born and raised in New Jersey. She moved with her family to North Carolina and joined the Community Free Clinic staff in 2003. She was hired as a part time employee to help interpret for the Hispanic population. Rebecca states “I always knew I wanted to help the Spanish speaking community. It made me feel so helpful when I was able to assist a person to speak to their doctor and feel in control of their health. It feels as rewarding now as it did the first time I helped a patient at the Clinic” Rebecca’s responsibilities include scheduling appointments for all patients, making patient reminder calls and utilizing a care messaging system that sends text messages to remind patients of appointments; coordinating volunteers to assist with front office duties, such as pulling patient charts to prepare them for clinic; checking in patients at the window; interpreting in the exam rooms and pharmacy for Hispanic speaking patients; updating patient demographics and eligibility in the EMR system; coordinating with CMC-Northeast to schedule follow-up appointments for patients seen as inpatient or in the Emergency Department; translates documents for the clinic; and coordinates the food for volunteers which is provided by local restaurants during our night clinics. Rebecca is very active in her church and her greatest love is being a mother to her daughter Olivia.
